I never really paid much mind to the newer Dakota's, but I could see the difference in the cab size when I got in that one. And the dealer came with me and my dad on the test drive, and sat in the back seat with no problems, and he was a lot bigger then me or my pop.

That Colorado wasn't really gutless, it was just too raspy and noisy for me. It was almost riceish. I don't know if they had an aftermarket exhaust on it or what. It was nice, though.

I'm keeping my Ranger, though. At least for now. My dad said he would buy it if I sold it.

very nice

as for 460's only getting 8, the previous owner of my dads 85 f250 saw up to 12 if he kept it under 60 hwy, furthermore, theres a lot of difference between the old *** ones and new

(although i doubt chuck will top 14 all hwy)

i do agree with one of hanks points though, everyone i know that has a cummins wish it came in something else

As far is owning a diesel.... Never. I don't own a farm or haul anything. I love your ranger ty! Keep it. Then get a mustang for fun and speed. Way more fun!
I dont know about where you live but out here in Colorado there are hundreds if not thousands of diesel trucks that run 13 and 14 second 1/4 miles.

http://www.atsdiesel.com/ats2/index.asp? These guys are local and will make your truck a god.

BTW... try fitting a quad in your mustang and running a 13 sec 1/4...

How do you know it was modded? How do you know he was all out racing?

It seems hard to beleive that your truck, stock I assume would beat a modded diesel. You also have M/T's and over 100k on your engine.

few reasons diesels rule...

tons of easy cheap power
can be tuned anyway possible.
can be used hard
can be used as a DD, tow rig and wheeling rig and still beat several cars on the street.
annoying loud
smokes
good mpg under load and even unloaded.

I wish I had one instead of my 150, but around here its pretty flat and not many hills, so towing the ranger isnt bad at all.

That's nice...I seriously doubt there are 1000s of 13 sec diesels in Colorado.

13-14 sec. is what a STOCK Mustang runs. S197s with sticky tires are consistently in the 12s.

Diesels are slow...meant for hauling the race car...not racing itself. Some idiots don't get that.

LOL. Is your Mustang supercharged or turbocharged? Ever heard of a non turbo charged/supercharged motor losing power due to higher elevation?

There are many, many diesels out here that can and will smoke a GT. You run a 13 sec quarter mile there with a stock GT, you will run a 14.5-15 here. But the turbo diesel will run the same.

And as Jake stated...a lot of tuned diesels can keep up with a GT even with a load...

1. Your statement about running the same if you have a turbo/supercharger is completely false.

2. I don't care what my car will run in Colorado, as I don't live there.

3. I would like to see a 'loaded' PSD try and keep up with me.

4. I have yet to find a modded PSD that can even remotely stay with me to 100+.

i beg to differ. i dont mean to hate on mustangs. but theyre slow for what they are. i was running low 13's in my grand prix on a poorly prepped track in vegas, and i pulled GT's, even the newer body styles all day. they aren't very quick. and without a doubt a lightly modded diesel could keep up with one. idk about with a load. but by itself, they're pretty quick. and they get up and go on the highway too.

As they shouldn't... built for different reasons. Car vs. Truck.

Although my buddies duramax on 40's can keep up with z06 vettes.... Riddle me that one lol

155hp chip, 5in straight piped, intake and 4.56 gears with factory LS... She moves.

I would love to roll race a PSD. If they get up and go on the highway then they should be able to keep up. Right?

Unless you have a video of your buddy keeping up(and I don't mean just keeping in sight) with a C5Z06 or C6Z06, I call BS.

If you do, I would like to see it. He must be 10.9-11.2 in the 1/4 if he is keeping up with a C6Z06.

BamaGT, I race regularly at the strip, so I'm not pulling ANYTHING out of my whoo-haa saying this. The ATS trucks, with real simple mods, exhaust and a tune, will beat the Mustangs out at the track. I know this because I see it week after week after week. Don't believe me, I'll take my camera and video one on Friday.

Mustangs up here, stock, run low 15's. Guarentee your 13 second mustang will be a 14.5 car. I know too many guys with the same mods you have that run them that fast.

I can tell you right now at the track his truck has to be turned down because they won't let him run faster than a 15 with 20in of lift on 40's in 4wd.... The amount of power and torque it takes to break a tire that large, let alone all 4's (Cuz I have seen it) must mean something... A mustang can do it sure... but look at the size of the tires..

I love stangs, man... Don't get me wrong... But you're telling him a diesel isn't fast with light mods and that's BS. All my buddies have FS diesels on at minimum of 38's... And not one of them is "slow"... Hell I personally raced a GT in my buddies 4dr integra and SMOKED it... I did have over 285hp fully planted at the front wheels though lol
