I have a 1990 Ford ranger xlt 2.3 5 speed started my project pulled the motor out wanted to replace motor mounts so the ones they sold me said the we're universal but they're exactly the same and one is correct and other is not any suggestions the guy from advanced didn't know what the hell he was talking about

 

They look correct to me, left and right use the same mount.

There are 2 styles of mounts. hydraulic or solid, looks like your truck has one of each, meaning someone has replaced 1 on your truck at one time with a different style.

The new solid ones you have will work.

 

So you think that he changed the motor mount bracket as well and I would think that the mounts should be level even the brackets on the frame one sits higher then the other
