sohc to ohv intake swap ?

Does anyone know if this can be done? Ive got a 92 ranger with 4.0 ohv. Truck has been wrecked beyond repair and ive been holding on to it in hopes of finding anothe truck in need of an engine. Recently ive picked up a 01 ranger with 4.0 sohc. I know its a downgrade but its what i got. I think i can hack the wiring out, mostly. Im wondering if i can use the sohc intake on the ohv engine. if it will swap it would make the job a little easier. wouldnt have to have return fuel line and would satisfy some of the wiring.. Anyone insight would be appreciated.

Why swap intakes? IMO the SOHC is a better built engine, and i have an OHV.
the only issue i'd forsee with an 01 is the timing chain rattle, if it rattles, replace it quick.

the SOHC 4.0 is all around a better motor than the OHV

i see u no one understands... sohc engine blown up, no good.. i want to swap intakes because im doing and engine swap and the sohc has no return fuel line. already have ohv engine. i dont want to buy another engine when ive got a whole truck with the ohv engine that i know is good. Can anyone help. telling me that the sohc engine is better is not help.. besides i disagree. ohv is more dependabel and there is no arguing that. i dont care about hp, just saving money. ive never seen a sohc engine with anywhere close to 200,000 miles, ive got two ohv engines and one has over 200,000. with no major repairs having to be done.

Almost positive it will not work, The ohv is cast while the sohc is plastic and the lower is different. take it off and see if it works doubtful

i feel the same way... prayin it will but doubtfull..was hopein some one had tried even though im not surewhy anyone would unless in my position.. its hard to buy another motor when im know i can physically put it in there and make it run, i dont want to go through all that to waste my time. i can sell the wrecked truck for close to enough to buy the right engine. i dont wanna throw away a good motor.
Do you know what years had the least probs. i keep hearing 03 and newer had the timing issue fixed.

Heads are different making the lower different and the upper too.

Also the trans is has a slightly different bell housing, adding to the issues of swapping in the ohv.

You need to scrap a truck to recoup some funds to get another engine.
