why? you will need wiring, the matching PATS system for the new motor (keys), computer, throttle cable. you shouldn't have to swap trans, as the ohv and sohc can swap, it's just one bolt different.

A novices opinion… sell the OHV 4.0 and buy a decent low milage SOHC 4.0.
Why… bolt in, no wiring hassles , no exhaust hassles, everything should be a go.

I know you said you had the OHV 4.0 already but just because you do isn’t always the best approach.
Even if money is tight why put yourself through the grief and aggravation, put back what came out and you have all of the pieces except the motor.

luck,

p.s. both motors are OHV, just one has the cam(s) in a different place.

The 99 PATS is completely different from 2001 and needs different transponder keys snd a different transceiver module on the column. Then you need to add the stand alone 99 PATS Module (the corresponding functions of this module were built in as part of the 2001 PCM but it goes away with the swap). Custom wiring is necessary to string it all together. If all of the PATS parts and the PCM do not come from the same 99 donor vehicle, then programming using a dealer tool would be necessary to make them work together.

The 99 Ex PCM would also require a change to how the speedometer is read and corrected. 2001 does the correction in the PCM but, again, that goes away with the swap.

If you don't already have them, you'd need the 99 engine/transmission wiring harness and maybe the exhaust Y-pipe too. Possible differences in peripherals like power steering hoses and A/C hoses.

That's what I can think of off the top of my head. There may be more.
