Starter Replacement: 92 Ranger 3.0 V6 Automatic

I have removed the starter off my 1992 ford ranger 3.0 V6 Automatic. Ordered the same kind to replace it with as I just did with my 2004 3.0 V6 Automatic and said they would need the same part anyway.

The new new starter has 3 posts, the old one in the 92 has 2 with one flat connection thing.

can I get an adaptor or something?
Like something to go around the 3rd post that’ll allow that flat plug/prong thing to go into?

You cut the flat connector from the wire and crimp on an eye let and install it on the post of the new starter.

Let me take pictures of what the wire looks like that plugs into that flat bit there instead of it being a post on
can you show me pictures or links of what I need to buy so I can visualize what you’re saying?

Ron?

Help :(

Like this, it's a common adapter, but finding the right size may prove to be a challenge.

It may be easier just to add a new end to accommodate the threaded post.
How are your soldering skills ?
You can get a crimp on style, but those don't do well in that area because it's near the bottom of the engine where all the dirt is.

You also may be able to go into any auto parts store, they should be able to help you.

The crimp style is the only one I can find, none have a diameter big enough to fit over the larger post. I may be able to jam one on good but would that be iffy? Not sure what to do here because all the auto parts stores I went to today had nothing like what’s in your pic. They all had the crimp style and that’s it.

I may try to find a huge gauge size and jam it in but I’d like to know what the name is for what’s in the picture so I can just order it online and wait even longer...

Here is where I got the photo from, but they are in the UK and it looks like they're all a little small.

I would just change the end...

Or this with heat shrink.

I couldn’t find them at any store I’ve tried so many. I finally found one but I knew it’d be too small. However I am able to securely jam it on the post. Don’t think I’ll fall off ever.. but will this be a good connection? Like will it do the job?

I really just wanna use it like that to temporarily test out to see if my problem is the starter. This did work, but only when I jumped it with my other ranger. Same problem I’ve beeb having, replaced the alternator and now the starter. Battery guy said my battery is good but sometimes it goes haywire on the volt meter. Going from 12.2 to 13.4 cold
