Swap 02 B4000 bed for Ranger

Hello all, I have a rusted out B4000 bed. With B series's in short supply I'm thinking of swapping with a ranger bed. I know I'll have light harness issues but my question is more basic than that. What model year Ranger bed(s) would be the best option all things considered... B4000 is extended cab, short bed. Thanks, Tim

Welcome to the forum

From 1983 to 2012 there were only 2 sizes of beds for Rangers, 6ft was used on extended cab or regular cab, 7ft was only used on regular cab "long beds"
Axle is 6" farther back on Long beds so no you can't use a 7ft bed on a 6ft bed Ranger without some serious modifications, lol.

1993 to 2012 had 2 styles of 6ft beds, standard and stepside

2001 and up Rangers used "two tail light" setup, earlier used "three light", best to stay with what you have, but you can change things around, your 2002 taillights will fit in older bed

So 2001 and up Ranger 6ft bed will work for your 2002, match standard side or step side as you like
You can swap over the tailgate which is the only difference between B-series and Ranger

Bed bolts are t-55, torx 55
