Tellico is going to close, we need your help!

If you have not been keeping up with Tellico and what's been going on please take some time to do this. We have just 23 more days to get as much of a positive response as we can on this issue. This is going to take some effort from the wheeling community to keep one of the best places in the south east open.

So, please, take some time....get caught up on the issue and write some letters! Also, if you're not already a member of the BRC or the SFWDA please consider joining up.

Here's some links to get you started...

http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=986586

and a massive amount of info...

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=88

Feel free to cross post this on all the other forums you belong too.

Thanks!

Why is it closing?? I havnt looked at the links yet...fixing to though

Edit

How did I know that it was going to have something to do with the environment, you people need to wake up and get involved with politics. This is the kind of thing OUR ignorance over the years has created, a bunch of liberal tree hugging fools dictating to us the who/what/where. These liberal fools have a mental disorder, the disorder is that their life to them has no meaning so they seek out these ignorant liberal control programs to try to bring some meaning to their life. These people are miserable and they seek to make the rest of us just as miserable.

They are closing because of runoff of silt into the tellico river. They are saying that it kills the fish, fish that are restocked every year. Just read the links... I'd be here for a long time trying to explain everything.

Fat chance of that... they always do this. You see, on December 31st of 2007, a few trails (slickrock, lower 2, peckerwood) were closed until January 1st 2009 (one year). But you see, all the trails are closed from January 1st to April 1st, so technically this "temporary" closure of these few trails was longer than a year... Now, since the entire place is closed until April 1st, they are going to wait until April 1st to close it (most likely permenately), even though it isn't even open. Which brings me to these questions: How can you re-open a trail on the day the whole place gets closed? And How can they close trails that are not even open, and wait for the day they are supposed to open to actually close them? They are giving the 4wd community the run-a-round by telling them these are temporary closures in order to buy them some more time to make the cklosures permenate. It is a sad truth. But with your help, there may be a small chance that we can keep it open. A snowballs chance in hell maybe, but a chance at that.

We should all get together, thousands of off-roaders and take the park over for a weekend. Tell the government that this is our land..we pay for it!!

We can get all the truck/4x4 forums to have "meets" there on the same weekend to protest the closing of trails because we all know thats how they plan to close the park, one trail at a time.

It's the tree huggers that ruin it for everyone......but on the same hand, it's the off-road guys that destroy the trails and lack of respect for the trails that provoke the tree huggers to take action.

Like a vicious circle.

That’s where your wrong, the tree huggers/left would still b!tch. That’s liberalism and you need to know it and study it, no matter how much we give it’s never enough. They will find some fault in our concessions and then move on to some other ignorant BS.

I mean, its a bunch of bull. Id be willing to pay double the admittance fee per day if it meant we could still ride there. Maybe to help pay for all the poor innocent (stocked, might I add?) fish that our silt is killing. Maybe they need better lures and some common sense on how to catch them... But anyway, please read the links and mail a letter. It is our last hope.
