I have an 01 4x4 4.0 XLT 4door ranger and the motor, transmission, transfer case, ECU is all from my 05 4.0 XLT 4x4. I'm having issues finding the right transfer case shift control module for it as I can no longer match a vin to the '05 components. Can somebody give me the correct part number for the module please. Thank you very much for the help.

 

2001 to 2005 Rangers used same 4x4 shift module, also 2001/2 Explorer Sport Tracs
1L5Z-7E453-XX

1 is 2001
L5 is Ranger
Z is electric
7E453 is any 4x4 module

xx is the revision, AC would be fine but A + any other letter will work

Ford doesn't change the year of part number unless part actually changes, so the 1 for 2001 didn't change until 2006, which means the 1L5Z will work on 2001 to 2005 Rangers

Dorman also sells same module using 599-252 part number

These were a common failure point for the 4x4 system on these years
