Transmission not pumping

Welcome to the forum
Automatic trans?
And the first time you bolted an automatic to an engine?
You probably did what I did on my first automatic install, 40 years ago, lol
And its not good, its an expensive repair
To install any automatic trans to any engine you have to FIRST seat the torque converter onto the transmission
You need to line up the input shaft and the main pump splines and tabs
Torque converter will slide back into the bellhousing as you spin it, it will slide back 2 or 3 times as everything lines up, and should touch the bellhousing at the back or almost
THEN you can bolt then bellhousing to the engine, should fit flush no tightening bolts to get them together <<<< this is what I had to do and this is what BROKE the pump
THEN you slide torque converter forward to bolt it to the flexplate
You can remove an engine or trans with torque converter attach to engine, doesn't hurt anything, but you can not install it that way
You have broken the front pump/main pump/only pump so transmission needs to be disassembled to replace it
I did this to a rebuilt trans my first time, expensive lesson

I had transmission and out together and did bolt converter to motor first and was able to sliide transmission is to place with out much trouble ! Any chance maybe i didn't damage it? Were u able to make a visual inspection to know it was damaged without disassembling the transmission
You have to seat the torque converter to the trans first, the weight of the engine and trans will break the pump when you slide them together without that alignment, as soon as pump breaks it goes together great :)
So pump was damaged
"Not pumping", torque converter turns the pump whenever engine is running
Check dip stick, if level doesn't drop with engine running then no pump
Pull off trans cooler line, start engine, if there not a big mess of ATF under the truck then no pump
