On my 4.0 i cut off 1 cat, and put my flowmaster 40 series on, and dumped it right after the muffler. I would say that it sounds like a V8.

Record it at 3500ish rpm to the rev limiter, guaranteed it still sounds like a V6

A lot of people see my tach and hear my exhaust, then ask what I have in it...Most of them believe me if I say a 302 (obviously car guys know better, but most random people dont)....Its funny.

My (Stage 4) SRT was pretty much a carbon copy of this Stone White SRT, except I was slightly above 430 at the wheels.

...and I think my wheels looked better with the Stone White paint.

That's some 4cyl "rice" that sounded pretty good to me.

I've heard a lot of 4 cyls that sound killer with a good exhaust. But with the fart cans that 90% of all the stupid ricers put on there gives it a stereotype.

Yep....ditto.

I'll bet a four cylinder motorcycle would sound good!

About 10 years ago I had an 88 Ranger with a 2.3 and a 5sp. The exhaust rotted out so I had a, "turbo" muffler welded in with some new 2 1/4 in pipe from the manifold back. Had to keep the cat. Anyhow, it sounded pretty good. Pretty quite at around town speeds. Once you got above 3800-ish RPM's, it made a little noise, but it wasn't a fart can by any means. I think the muffler ran me $30 back then. Something to look at.
