Weird throttle issue

Ok first off I have a 2001, 2.5 liter, with a manual transmission. Lately I've had an issue where sometimes I will go to shift and the rpm's will either stay where they are at while the clutch is engaged or the vehicle is in neutral or it will even start climbing. All of this is happening with my foot off of the gas pedal. I've looked at the throttle several times and I don't notice anything obviously wrong. I'm not sure if there is something I should be specifically looking for though. The cable appears to be clean and not kinked. This is obviously a big problem though and I thought I would post here before taking it to a shop in the hopes that someone has had this problem as well or knows the cause or solution to it.

Clean the IAC valve. Very common problem.
It's mounted on the throttle body.

Thanks I've cleaned it before but I guess it needs it again.
