So I have a 95 2.3 l Ford ranger and I'm getting an intermittent grinding noise it sounds like in my wheel hub or somewhere along the axle I'm not too sure but it seems to happen from time to time when I hit a bump or take a sharp turn sometimes in both directions it will make the noise but usually it is only when I'm turning be right mostly most prominent but it will happen when I'm just driving straight as well at high speeds usually above 60 mph it sounds like it's coming from the driver side but I could be wrong it is a company by a usually slight vibration it it seems to go with the speed of the wheel and not the engine as I can wrap it in neutral and switch between gears without the noise increasing or decreasing or changing its speed of sound it does seem to usually end up going away when I press on the brakes so I'm not sure if maybe it's a break or rotor issue it's with the occurrence of the sound I'm really not quite sure I've checked the rotors and the brakes and there is not uneven wear on them and checked the wheel bearings and they were basically looking new still on the front axle the driver side rear wheel bearing did seem to have a little deformation on the sheet that holds the bearing roller in but it was nothing that seems a hinder it's mobility or make a noise when I turned it by hand I just want to kind of get an idea what it might be before I start throwing parts where they're not needed it doesn't affect the performance obviously I guess at all it's just kind of annoying to listen to while driving sometimes as the cabins already fairly noisy as is obviously also I want to avoid any catastrophic failure while driving somewhere inconvenience again a 1995 2.3 l Ford ranger XLT rear wheel drive front disc rear drums 200 and 44,000 miles

That kind of thing is very difficult to diagnose over the internet. I have not experienced anything like this, so I don;t have any suggestions what to look for. Hopefully, someone has an idea of what to look for.

Any chance you figured out what this was?? Sounds like you’re describing my current issues exactly.

thanks!
