What’s this mystery noise? (2003 Mazda B3000)
Afternoon, or good morning depending on where you are.
So,
noise has been coming up here and there for a few weeks... but I really mean here and there... I’ve taken it to a mechanic three times since the noises started. Nobody can figure it out, only because the noise (of course) stops when a mechanic wants to look at it. This morning, after driving it to work- the chirp came back, louder than ever and won’t stop. It’s MOST prominent when slowing down or idling. There’s no noticeable difference in engine performance, except the one time it caused the truck to buck, then stall completely... while this noise pops up. Regardless, I drove it home and it’s not moving or even being started until the problem is addressed. All I know that my truck is NOT happy...
this noise might be related to my oil pressure sensor acting up lately, too. Which is brand new- I got one for preventative maintenance.
No, it’s not a belt squeal. I’ve sprayed water on it while this noise was happening and nothing changed. You can clearly tell it’s coming from the very rear of the engine bay. And no, I’ve tried an alternator test. Truck has a two week old battery in it as well, it’s staying at a solid 14.5 / 14.6 V.
Every fuse, both engine bay and the side door near the steering wheel were all checked. None are burned out or corroded.
I know someone on here will know right off the bat. This noise has caused my truck to STALL once. It started up and drove fine the next day without a whine or squeak. Not doing it again, though. Not after today’s noises.
thanks again!

you know what, I was warned about that. Going to get it replaced Monday. I’m assuming with an OEM one is the best idea right?
