First vehicle. Cheap, mostly reliable (was neglected by the previous owner) transportation for a then high school kid. Many vehicles later of all makes and models, I'm driving a Ranger again. A much nicer, more reliable one, and I love it!

For what its worth, I didnt even want a ranger. My dad talked me into. So at first my truck was a lease, for 3 years.... the lease expired, Aug 28, 2007. on Sept 2, 2007 my dad died so I just sent ford another lease payment to extend my lease another month...

Bought the truck out in October, for $10,500 at the time, my truck used, with more miles and not as good shape were selling for 16K...

I paid it off last summer, 2 years early.

The ranger, my second vehicle I have owned, has done everything and more, has exceeded ALL my expectations, has done MORE than everyone said it could do. The Ranger has YET to let me down.

Such as: I hauled about 4,000lbs of bricks in the bed of my truck 70 miles home.

I pulled a 28ft boat, through 20ft of mud, and onto concrete... I have removed bushes with trunk sizes exceeding 1ft... circumference... There is nothing my truck cant do.

My first ranger was a 95 yellow splash that i got in 1999 or 2000 (not exactally sure) and i still kind of have it. got it took apart to do a stock floor body drop and it never made its way back together thanks to a lack of money. while that was apart i got a 1991 that i drove for a couple years untill an electrical problem made me sell it and get a new f-150 lease. after that i was thinking family and got a lincoln LS nice car but not a ranger so i finally got that sold and picked up my 1999 ranger a couple weeks ago. could not be happier with my first 4x4! Always been a ford guy probally because both of my grandfathers were employeed by ford.

I needed a small truck, and I did not want to invest in the Government Motors (GM). If things keep going the way they are GM will soon be the only authorized brand in the country formally known as America. Repeal and Remove.

I had a 1995 Maxima as my daily beater until it got totaled Dec. 24th. Took until very recently to finally get a check for it. My friend picked up a 2006 Chevy fullsize with a 4.8L and 17,000 miles on it for $2,000 so I basically bought the 2003 Ranger he had from him to cover that cost. I had been wanting a small truck as a DD and the opportunity just happened like that.

First truck was a 94 ranger with the 2.3 and I got that at 16 with 263000 miles on it almost the whole truck all original! Engine, tranny, never been touched drove it till it hit 310000 in 2005 when I joined the Marine Corps and as soon as I pulled onto a Ford lot I wanted to see a truck that was a 5-speed and the one I bought was the only one they had. I fell in love with it even though I had been eyeballing the yellow truck all day and drove it home shortly thereafter. Perfect size truck for me, cheap to fix or modify, and I think that rangers just look good.

my first ranger i bought in '91 it was a '88 2wd 2.3 5 speed s/c and it had almost 100K on it. drove it another 100K and went to a 3/4 ton g.m. product for awhile. went back to a ranger again in 2003. this time i got a '93 4x s/c 4.0 5 speed. the '93 has been much better for pulling with the 4.0 the 2.3 was great on gas but didnt like hills. the 4.0 i can set the cruise leave it in 5th and roll on. the '88 was comletly bare when i bought it, the '93 did come with a cap. yes both trucks look simalar. the '93 now has 130K on it. i dont plan on parting with it anytime soon.Name: 88ranger001.jpg

Size: 51.7 KB i got my first one while helping a freind look for a truck. the '88 was only 3 years old at the time and at $7,000 was a good deal. i dont know that i would have a ranger newer than the '97 model year though. i dont care for some of the things that have changed. id rather have my TTB front end, and conventional (non rack and pinion) steering setup. the ohv 4.0 is enough motor for me and the newer ohc's dont have the bottom end torque that the 160 hp ohv 4.0 has. the '93 hasnt been quite as trouble-free as the '88 was but the '93 has been a more useable vehicle. im not sure id want to go back to 2wd again.

A friend of mine had one and had very good luck with his, so I decided I wanted one too. I've had it for over 3 years now, and it has served me well.

It has about 42,000 miles on it....Not bad for a 2003, eh ??

I bought my first Ranger, a black '97 regular cab/flareside/3.0L/5spd right after high school because I needed something to get me to and from work. My dad had basically the same truck but a 2000. I really liked it, but at the time in 2004 I couldn't afford a newer one!
I sold it a couple years ago when I moved to the city as I had no use for it.
A year ago we moved back to the country and we needed a second vehicle so i was looking at 2wd 06+ Sports. I always wanted a Level II from before I ever got my first truck but didn't really need anything 4WD. Then... I came across my current truck on trader.ca the night before I was going to look at an '07 Sport. I didn't bother to look at the other truck because this '07 Level II was listed at the same price of all the 2wd trucks I'd been looking at... with the same mileage and everything. Couldn't pass on this deal even though I had to drive a few extra hours to get to it!
I'm happy with what I've got around now. The Ranger for any hauling/work that needs to be done, the Focus for longer distance/traveling and the Mustang for fun!

2004 Ford Ranger Edge Single Cab 3.0V6 2WD

My mom leased it new in 2004. She wanted something to do groceries, occasionally haul something, and commute the whopping 2 miles (round trip) to work each day. With an occasional cross-country road trip or two, she ended up with only 35,000 miles by 2009.

She ended up buying it from the bank and selling it to me. I've done a little more with it, but it still drives like the first day I got it. I really wasn't into Rangers until I drove hers. Then I got hooked.

No upgrades yet (which makes me pretty plain jane at meet ups), but I really like it bone stock. It's just right.
