people who do the "bumper mod" are silly, that GAP is there for a reason!
the cab HAS to flex and the bumper will smash into the lower headlight panel if its to close.
the ONLY way i would ever move my bumper up is if i had some daystar polly cab bushings, and even if i did have the polly bushings i would only move it maybe a quater inch at most
If you're in a front impact the odds are your grille and headlights are going to be damaged anyway. I don't see where that is a big deal. Have you looked at the front of a current Explorer or Sport Trac?
if you do any off roading at all then you want to keep the bumper in its stock location
yeah i have seen the current explorer seeing as i own a 2002 explorer 4x4 and the frame/cab setup is much different then a ranger and the suspension takes all the abuse, plus there is no bed mounted directley to the frame.

i have seen guys with stock cab bushings flex there trucks so bad off road that the bed smashes into the cab causing huge damage
the bumper is mounted to the frame, the cab is mounted to the frame on rubber bushings, something has to give and it wont be the bumper.

i agree with 04 edge...if u pull up on something your bed cab bumpers also flex....say for example on a uni body jeep if u open the rear hatch during flex chances are you won't be getting it back down till after the flex...
