I was looking in the owners handbook.. my truck is rated for 3400lbs gross trailer weight... because its a 5spd. if it was an auto it would tow like 5800lbs WTF.. I wanted a 4.0L so I could tow.. I guess if I was really into towing I would have checked before I bought a stick.. I'm not regretting my purchase but confused why such a low amount for a 5spd.. Clutch holding capacity???

Yea, ford didn't wanna have to replace clutches if guys named their truck "truck Norris" and towed things like that (no offense to TRUCK or said owner, just using you as an example).

Automatics are nearly always rated to tow more than manual transmissions.

Beard, how much did that trailer weigh? By itself and with the bobcat if you can remember.
1400lb trailer, 4200lb bobcat

I wanna know how the F*CK you guys got U-haul to rent out a trailer!

Last time I tried that, they told me that nothing short of an F150 could haul ANY of their trailers.

Anyway, I haven't towed anything as of yet because I don't have a tow hitch.

Wirelessly posted

I rented the uhaul car trailer no problem. Pulled up said I needed it he said ok.

I've also heard that if you pick it up with a ranger you just say that you are towing it with your friends diesel and they let you get it that way too.

I have pulled a 16ft double axel trailer with every thing from the stuff from me moving to a 350lbs 89 trans am on the back of my truck. the last time I pulled the trans am was to San Antonio from Austin, tx and on the way down there I passed a F350 quad cab with a lawn trailer and full of workers that had a hard time going up at 65mph lol

The idiots there told me unless I had a bedcap or at least an F150, nothing doing.

However, I also showed them a reservation number for what I needed at the time and the horses a$$ behind the counter had no idea what to do with it.

All that, and I showed them cash. One would think the green would have changed his attitude.

Same here. Essentially can't pull a trailer out of the lot without a full sized truck. I can only figure some asshat sued the haul when they piled up their train doing something stupid.

Edit:
I just went to the haul site and found the compatibility tool indicates one can use a Ranger for a tow dolly with a 3,500lb hitch. Only for small cars though.
Maybe they see no hitch on the truck and shut you down. I don't have a hitch mounted, yet.

LOL I should show up with my g/f's fathers work truck. Let them say no to a diesel powered flatbed! I'm not sure of make or model but that thing has hauled many a broken down vehicles over the years.

Yeah why am I even bothering with U-haul if has a flatbed you ask? Because in the ONE instance I needed it, he was already fully booked for that weekend.

Sucks, but hey that's the brakes of the game.
