I change mine every 3k, i will not go longer than 3k. I use full synthetic, and to me its worth it, I want my engine to run for a long time, and run good.

And with how i drive I would assume 3k is perfect due the extra heat added from my s/c.

It depends. Sometimes I do it, sometimes a dealer shop does it. Only one shop is allowed to touch it for anything except tire stuff (it goes to Firestone for that since it is free and I have to for the tire warranty).

My dealership has a deal when I bought my truck. Free tires for life, as long as I do all maintenence with them. So they do my oil changes.

It's nice I go in, get some coffee and donuts, watch some sports or read a magazine and about 30-45 minutes later get my truck back.

Having A Hard Time Installing My Oil Filter
 

Hi, Is it me? It seems I cannot get my oil filter to easily screw on. I am trying to install it through the tire well (most room) ; but, it does not want to screw on....almost like it's not properly aligning. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S Who thought of that little funnel thingy....still oils the starter when removing the filter!?!?!?

you mean i have 14 hoists to choose from and i gotta put my truck on one and do what? oil? wtf is oil? hmmm maybe thats why the lil light flashes on the guages ad the engine pings a lil bit..how do i check the level? there a how to on it? :P

I change my oil when I can, otherwise I get it changed when I have the truck in the shop for other stuff.

i always change my oil. why pay someone to do something that is easy to do. i just changed my oil today. man it was mice and warm, while the air was like 22 degrees.

I love changing my own oil and getting dirty!

I always have in the past, but anymore it's only if I have access to a garage to do it in (living in an apartment complex is not very conducive to that kind of work)

Change my own oil? Ewww. That stuff is known to cause cancer in lab rats according to the state of California. Actually, I'm lazy, so I let a buddy of mine who is a mechanic change it. I pull it into his shop, hand him my synthetic oil, a filter, let him change the oil, then hand him an ice cold MGD and a double cheeseburger from Mickey Ds and I'm on my way in under 10 mins. Another great part is all his repairs cost the same amount if it takes under an hour. Over an hour it costs a six pack for every two hours over one. It cost me a case of MGD to take out a tranny once, beat that without getting dirty. Best of all, unlike jiffy lube, he never asks me if I need new windsheild wipers, a new air filter, or a new flux-capcitor...

I've always changed my own oil in my Ranger. Then one Saturday I got lazy and took it to Firestone. 30 minutes later I leave not thinking anything to be wrong. The next morning I get up and attempt to drive to work and my engine seizes. I pop the hood and check the oil level to realize that there is no oil in my engine. Well, needless to say I haven't let anyone else change my oil since then, even though Firestone did buy me a new engine. I say it's worth getting a little dirty to do it yourself. That is the only way you can be sure it's been done right.

75% of the time i change my own oil the rest of the time ill send my son under it to do it for me and once every couple of years ill be either so busy or in too much pain to do it myself and ill take it to jiffy lube where my son worked and i know the guys and make them do it. They know better than to screw it up on me cause i will literally knock em senseless if they do lol

OIL????? Is that the same as blinker fluid?
