I have a very similar question: 2001 Ford Ranger Edge 4X4 , Reg Cab, 6 foot bed.
Allied has these 2 frames in stock, they tell me since my truck is a 4X4 these will not fit.
I have read somewhere else that the rar frame section is the same for a 4X2 and a 4X4
Can someone please verify that for me.

Both of these frame sections are about 30 minutes from my house

Rear frame is the same
Front frame on 2WD are different that 4WD, 4WD have boxed front frames for axle mounting

So you can use the rear part of the frame, from regular cab or extended cab, 6ft rear frame was the same, there was a 7ft bed frame, Long Bed Ranger, it was different

Front frames came in 2WD or 4WD but also regular cab and extended cab, so there were 4 different front frames
