Okay need some info about doing SAS please reply
Okay i'm trying to see if it'll be cheaper to SAS my truck or just buy a 4x4. Yes I know I will need a different tranny and tcase. So if you could give me any and all infomation about cost so I can gudge to see which would be cheaper in the long run. I love my truck and i've got 2+ years into it already and I dont know if I want to get rid of it for another truck. I've had absolutely no problems with it and I love it. So this is why I need your help figuring all this out. By the time this happens I should be able to do everything myself with help from friends. So if you could list out everything i'll need and rough cost estimates. Thanks for the help!

you might be better off tradin it in. thats your decision though. about the SAS, what specific info would you like to know? it all depends on what your plans for the truck are. mud? rock? street? just for looks? what size tires? you plan on gettin gears?
youll at least need the following: front axle(maybe rear, depends on your needs). manual transfer case. transmission. leaf springs. steering box. steel. dropped pitman arm. welder, torch, hand tools, place to do it, time, vehicle to use while doin it. all i think of for now but i know ill think of other stuff after im done typin. if you get good deals, youll have no less than $1500 in it. i got good deals and have 500 into mine, but its not a DD.

Save yourself the pain and time. Buy an 97 ranger with TBB and put a locker in it. Front e-z loc or the likes. When that is not enough, SAS that and lock the rear. Your truck is just to pretty to be tearing apart. Like was said earlier when you are going out and playing at least onces a weekend and your truck is not enough than think about SAS.

Think also about the downtime it will take for your truck. You will have to buy or borrow a vehicle for all the time it takes you to do the swap on your truck.
He also DID ask for our advice. SonicFX4 is just giving another idea he may not have thought of. No need to knock him for it. In the end it IS his choice, but he's asking for ideas, advice, criticism, and the rest of it. I think all ideas and opinions are valid here.

Do it. Run coils not leafs. PM me if you have any specific questions.
I put about 5 grand into my swap. But my 44 has ctms, yukon chormoly shafts, 5.13's, full spool, warn premiums, BTF cover, PMP knuckles, BTF high steer arms, full high steer with 3/4-5/8 heims, toyota steering box, PSC hydraulic assist ram, custom alcan leafs, the explorer 8.8 has a detroit, superior chromo shafts with 6-lug flange to match the front, chevy leafs with a pivoting shackle mount, and trail-ready beadlocks with 38" TSL's.
I beat the **** out of mine on the rocks on a regular basis.
You could cut that cost in half if you don't want the extra strength, and don't touch the rear axle.
