Working on a 2003 Ranger Flex Fuel, anything I need to know?
Working on a friend's 2003 XLT 2wd A/T 3.0 Flex Fuel Ranger. It was loaned out by my friend and it was returned to her in poor condition. I'm just going to do some routine maintenance, and by doing that I'll probably find other things that need attention. It is a "V" Ranger, so is there anything I need to know or be looking for, that pertains to it being a Flex Fuel vehicle? Thanks!
Not much different besides the fueling system parts pretty much all being flex fuel specific (injectors, pump, filter etc)
A personal anecdote to beware of: My 2003 FFV 3.0 with about 110k on it was down for about 2 month while I fixed another issue and I had pulled the fuel injectors out for that time. When I got it all back together I had a crank no start that left me stumped, and it ended up being 5 out 6 fuel injectors had totally seized, probably from drying out completely and whatever crud was in there dried out and glued them shut. May have been a fluke, but worth mentioning. 6 new injectors from TRQ were about $130 and working great now.
