The problem: My steering is much more difficult to move than normal, usually very easy to turn and handle. Now feels like Im trying to always turn it as if I was parked and it feels like Im fighting something to get it to turn.
What I have done:
Replaced High pressure line
Replaced return line
New steering rack (previous issue, old steering rack was bad)
New power steering pump (previous issue as well, only to discover that the rack was the one in need of some Jesus)
New fluid from doing the rack and pump, additional fluid added in after replacing both lines.
Additional notes:
After replacing the rack and pump it was working like a dream for several months no issues. Only recently within the period of a day or two did it suddenly become very difficult to turn.
Fluid is not perfectly clear, fairly cloudy now and not due to air bubbles. Image of the fluid is attached.
Im stumped on this one and any help is appreciated.
That is odd, it does read like fluid flow issue, does it have a cooler, its just a loop of metal line with some fins on it, it could have had the clog and new fluid suffered same fate as the old
The color indicates it was running hot for a long while
It does have a PS cooler, I did not check it yet but thats on the list next. I may end up replacing it just to be safe anyways since they run about $40-50
