1988 ranger

Hello I recently picked up a Ford Ranger 1988 one of the problems I am having is that the headlights won't come on I can't turn on the brake lights the four way lights but the headlights will not come on I was playing around with the hazard switch and head lights came on for a little bit where do you think the problem could be at I'm thinking it might be in the steering column any hints are helpful

Welcome to the forum

here is wiring diagram: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...1983to1989.JPG

The head light power does run thru the Multi-function switch(turn signal arm) so yes there could be a loose connection there or multi-function switch is just worn out

Have you selected high and low beam on multi-function switch, pulling and pushing it

I would see if you can find Main Light switch replacement, pull out the old one and test it
Any type of contact switch will wear out over time and that switch is at 29 years old, and so is the wiring, lol.
