2000 Ranger RCM questions

I’m trying to get straight information about my Rangers RCM. It’s a 2000 V6.In another post I was told the RCM gets fried and has to be completely replaced. There are services online that say you can clear the crash codes and re-use it.
I am also told if I buy a new one or find a used one that wasn’t in an accident. I’ll still have to get it programmed for the vehicle. Do I need to get new RCM?If I find one that was not in an accident, will it be reprogrammable to my vehicle?
I guess I also need to know about the impact sensor. I think it’s up near the front of the truck. If it’s the thing, I think I found it looks OK. Will it need to be replaced even if it looks OK? Any help will be appreciated.

If the air bags went off the module toast. You will need replacement module with exact same part number. If drivers air bag deployed you may need a clock spring as well.
