2001 Ranger: Battery cable to alternator advice

Hello,

I am replacing the battery cable harness in my 2001 Ranger (6 cylinder, 4.0 liter SOHC). The bundle of wires from the battery to the alternator goes low under the right side of the engine (as facing the engine from the front, then comes back up to the right of the throttle body and goes over the top on the engine, in front of the throttle body to connect to the alternator on the left side.

From where that bundle of wires branches off from the main trunk (going to the starter) until it winds up at the alternator is about three feet.

It is a very tight squeeze. What is the best way to feed the old cable down the rabbit hold and to fish the new cable back up through that narrow gap? What should I dismantle to get the job done? What shouldn't I do?

Thanks.

Thanks.

I believe it's the power steering pump that's in my way (not the water pump).

The one picture shows the bundle of cables and the other picture shows the power steering pump.

From watching videos online, it looks like that's the P/S bracket I'm pointing to. My question is whether I can remove or loosen the bracket enough to get the cable through without having to pull the P/S pump itself.

Any help would be appreciated.
