2005: fog lights on all the time?
2005: fog lights on all the time?
This is an STX, I can’t find the fog light switch, all the wiring looks factory.
They are always on? Is this normal for this truck?
Thanks for your time,
jeff

You can get your 2005 Owners Manual here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/genera...1-models-3747/
It will have fuse and Relay layouts, also operations of options
The Fog lights have a relay and fuse in the Engine Bay fuse box
If the relay failed closed then Fog lights would be on all the time, key on or off wouldn't matter
In 2005 there is a button under radio, to the right usually, that activates and deactivates Fog lights, main light switch must be on, in either Park or low beams, high beams automatically deactivate Fog lights, just FYI
Page 37 in manual shows what the button looks like

Fog lights
Thank you very much. The fogs go on when the lights are on and go off when I turn them off.
So the button deactivates them permanently.
So 2005 the fog lamps are normally on when the lights come on unless you deactivate them.
thank you again,
Jeff

No, the button is an ON/OFF switch, not a toggle, so if you turn the switch OFF the fog lights will stay off all the time
But yes, the main light switch needs to be on for the Fog Lights to work, i.e. for the ON/OFF switch to turn them on, and Fog lights would go off if you turn main light switch off, even if button was on
