2005 Ranger Cruise Control Troubleshooting
Hi all - I'm having an electrical issue with my Ranger's Cruise control. The system stopped working entirely while driving recently. So far I've done the following tests:
KOEO Diagnostic exam. I used the in the linked document as the first step. I can get results from the on/off switch on the left side of the steering wheel, but no response from the RSM, CST, and SET/ACCEL buttons which makes me think I have a faulty switch or connection. I'm unsure of next steps in how to test this that are simple or if I need to remove the switch assembly.
Master Cylinder - I've read that there is a connector on the side of the master cylinder in this year that was recalled by Ford as Brake Fluid would leak into the connection and cause a short which on occassion led to fire. I visually inspected the two connectors on the brake master cylinder on my lunch break at work today but didn't stick around long enough to disconnect them (I'm a teacher and didn't want to as that seemed like a great way to get oil on my work clothes - I'm accident prone like that). I've read elsewhere that this could be the cause. Does this sound realavent? If so, how do I check to see if this component was replaced and how do I assess this component?
Are there any other components I should assess?
Cheers!
Thomas
