I started this thread on another thread for 2007 Ranger heat problem. Due to the fact I am new, I didn't know how to start a new thread. I got many answers there from Ron D. I have checked the flow on the heater core, it seems to be getting hot at engine temp. I will have to get it cleaned once I check the damper door motor. Has anyone found an easier way to get out that inner motor screw other than removing the whole dash ? I have Googled the damper temp control motor and I haven't found any good suggestions yet.
This is a 2008 Ranger sport, auto trans 4x4, 4.0L engine

 

I have a new question. Does anyone have information on the pin-out for the connector on the temp door motor? I would like to check for proper feed before I try to remove the damper door motor.

Thanks for the video and pdf. I'll check the plug connection. There is no clicking, so I'm afraid the shaft may be broken. The 2008 has screws instead of swell plugs as retainers. Just makes it harder. I saw a later model video that shows a squeeze ratchet. I,m going to try to find one.

 

Lucky me! I popped the defrost vent and went down from there to get the front control bolt. The shaft is not broken, and the control motor is not moving. It shows 12v. and ground. New control motor ordered.

Sorry, the last post was misleading. I didn't pop the vent, only the cover. The hose from the vent that travels over the damper motor was removed. When I popped the vent cover up, all the clips came off. 3 went down the defroster duct. the other 5 were recoverable.

 

Thank you very much for your knowledge and expertise! I checked the wiring, and found the correct voltage and ground. I replaced the damper motor today, and recovered the heat control. I was able to recover 5 of the vent cover clips with a magnet. I will have to go to a Ford dealer on Monday, and get the clips for the defroster vent cover.

I sent a quick reply, an it went to the wrong thread.
When I popped up the defroster duct louver, all the retainer clips came off. 4 went down the defroster duct. Ford says I can only get them with the duct cover. I find that hard to believe, because nowadays you have to buy everything separate. Any illustrations that show a part number?

 

I have a 1991 Ford F800 with a 7.0l gas engine. I am having throttle problems with it. Can you suggest a forum to go to? This truck is giving me fits, and I need to get it repaired!
