4 wheel drive not working?

4 wheel drive not working?

i have a 97 ford ranger 4.0. now my 4 wheel drive isn't working. the 4 wheel drive motor is working you can hear/feel it clicking on, but the front wheels don't engage. any ideas?

My push button 4wheel is not working checked both fuses they're fine push the button and nothing happens . Any ideas? Got a guy just drove 5 hours to look at it and now this
please help!

sounds like an issue with the front hubs...clean/repack the wheel bearings as a start

Vacume lines maybe, swap it out for manual hubs.

3rd gens dont have the the vac. set up

Do a search for "Shift Motor" and member names "n3elz" and "rwenzing". There may be information in those threads that could be of some help with your problem.
