82 ranger V6 Weber 38/38 help
I have an 82 ranger with the V6 in the Weber 38 carburetor. On start up seems to choke and run fine but after it warms up it bogs and backfires out of the carburetor when I give it throttle. I have some mechanical knowledge but nothing advanced in adjusting carburetors.
Seems to run smoother again when I flip the choke flap back to semi shut position but at a high idle. The truck is pushing what I assume is probably 300,000 miles either that or it’s had a really rough 200,000.
any input or ideas would be appreciated. I’m a Chevy guy but this Ford has sentimental value otherwise it would be gone haha

First model year for Rangers was 1983?
But could have been assembled in '82
Or do you have F-150 with the Ranger trim package?
Reason I ask is because 1983 Rangers had the 2.8l V6 and used a Motorcraft 2150A carburetor, stock
Doesn't really matter, just reads like you need to adjust the carb for warmer weather, and you need to rebuild accelerator pump
Accelerator pump is there to squirt extra fuel into the engine when you press down on the gas pedal, this gives the Jets time to catch up to the higher air flow
If accelerator pump isn't working 100% then you get a hesitation when trying to accelerate.
Pump's diaphragm can leak so you don't get a full squirt of fuel
For most carbs you can get the accelerator pump rebuild kit on its own(it was a common failing), but................it may only come with full rebuild kit now
Other things to look at is the spark advance, spark should retard a bit on acceleration
The 1983 2.8l would use a TFI spark system
This used computer for spark advance/retard
