83 Ranger brake lights and turning signal lights not working
83 Ranger brake lights, backup lights and driver turning signal lights not working
Hello, All.
I am getting my truck back on the road after five years.
Before I took it off the road, the brake and turning lights started not to work.
What works
Parking lights
Passenger Turning Signal
Both front signals
What does not work
Driver turning signal
Brake Lights
Backup lights
What I've checked and tried
I checked the fuses, all are good.
The brake switch is new, bought before I took the truck off the road. (Does not mean that it is not bad?)
Took bulb out of working passenger side, swapped with non-working drivers side, and still the same. The passenger still works, and the driver does not. So, the bulbs are good.
There is an old trailer wiring connector assembly in the back as well.
Any information on this would be great.
Thanks, Wayne

I got the turning signals working all around.
The driver's side prongs in the socket had some surface rust on them, so I took a screwdriver and scraped it off, which fixed the turning signal issue.
So, now it is on to the brakes and backup lights.
If the brake switch is the cause of the issue, would that also mess with the backup light mechanism?
The brake switch has power to it, 12v.
I took a rod, placed it on the brake pedal, and checked for voltage on the bulb socket. I am unable to get voltage to the back of the truck for the brake lights.
Any assistance on this will help me out.

Found a video on testing the brake switch, and it looks like it might be bad.
The worst part is that it might have gone bad soon after getting it, but I did not realize it.
I will post back tomorrow, even though it seems I am the only person contributing to this post at the moment.
