Speedometer recalibration

Speedometer recalibration
I need to have my speedometer recalibrated after regearing and understand a Ford dealer can do it. My concern is I run a reprogrammed computer. If I set it back to the stock program and have the speedometer recalibrated, will it still hold when I set it to any of the modified programs I have?
I could just leave it in the program that I use most of the time and get it recalibrated because I don't have to worry about warranty issues. I just want to avoid the dealer messing something up in that program and not being able to change programs again.

As far as I know the VSS(vehicle speed sensor) pulses are changed/calibrated in the GEM(generic electronics module).
So PCM(computer) won't be effected, you can change it as you like.
GEM passes on the "corrected" pulse to PCM, Cruise, and speedometer
ABS gets pulses from VSS directly same as GEM, calibration of ABS isn't needed since it just watches for difference in pulses at each wheel.

the tuner I used in my 2005 F-150 (Superchips) and 2011 Mustang (SCT) both could calibrate the speedo for different tire sizes.

I have a SC tuner that was programmed for me. I don't have the ability to program it.
My speedometer is 5 mph fast now and I could live with that but the odometer is 5% fast and that is more of a problem. I use the odometer off-road a lot for navigation. Having to calculate the error all the time would be very inconvenient. I can use GPS for distance but I like verification.
I also run 31" tires for daily driving and towing. The speedometer will be more like 12 mph off at 70 and I would like it closer than that.
It may be an option to have someone reprogram my SCT but I don't know who could do it or if they can do it without messing something else up in the program.
I also don't know if the speedometer calibration can be be a percent change or only by gear ratio and tire size. My speedometer was never that accurate with 31" tires and 4.10 gears as it came from the factory. It was pretty close with 32" tires and 4.10 gears.

You mean programmed as in custom tunes and not the stock cookie cutter ones? If so all my tunes are custom so the computer doesn't flip out from the missing auto. When you go to flash there is a menu at the start that you can edit things such as tire size/ revs per mile it won't affect the tune itself and can be infinitely adjusted during the flashing process. It shouldn't affect the custom tune just pick the tune file you want from the handheld adjust settings as need then reflash it. if you have the actual scanner post up a model number and ill try to find the screenshots of what you need. hate for you to blow the cash if you already have the tools you need.

My SCT is a very early one. It was custom tuned by BAMA and I can find no model number on it. When I plug it in the screen indicates it is a Ford EECV tuner version 1.05. My only 2 options shown on the screen are A - Tune Vehicle and B - Diagnostics. If there is an another option I would sure like to know about it but it doesn't look like it.
I was given an option originally to purchase a connector for my computer so I could receive changes by email and I could upload them. I elected not to get them and BAMA doesn't support tuners for the Ranger anymore anyway.
I think I am out of luck for any chance to recalibrate the speedometer myself.

Id start by plugging it in and going into the tune menu after that it should give you either the option to adjust settings or you may have to select the tune file you want first after that you should get the list to adjust settings before flash. Mine pops up after i select the tune file i want then i have to scroll through to find the menu for the gear and rev. per mile settings. Then once selected how i want it gives the option to flash PCM. Let us know what you find in the menus because google isn't returning any results on the EECV search.

I was pretty sure it would not give me an option other than tunes but I did plug it in and checked to make sure. When I go to tunes it shows me which tune is active and asks me if I want to go back to the stock tune. If I say yes it gives me instructions of what to do before it goes back to the stock tune. If I say no to the stock tune it gives me the option of three tunes to go to. I get no other options.
I wish it was as simple as just selecting my ratio and gear on the tuner. Apparently mine is just too early for that feature.

Yeah well then id contact a SCT tuner from the boards and tell them what your trying to do and see what they say it may be as simple as sending in the tuner and having it tweaked or if its still usable with the PC software you may be able to spend a few bucks on the PC link and have them email a corrected tune to you with the correct specs in it.
