'01 Drivers belt Pretensioner with newer seats.

Tried to review all pages to stop duplications. I swapped out my original 60/40 seats for a newer set. Didn't realize the newer seats do not use pretensioners under the seat. The seats fit and look good, but the air bag system defaults and stays lit because of a lack of the unit.

Two possible solutions. Has any one taken the old pretensioner off the seat and installed it in a newer seat? Or can one just plug the unit in loose under the seat so the computer thinks it's working. I know there is a potential for accidental deployment, but that would be rare.

Did the 2000's have the pre-tensioner on the drivers side? If it did, how did you resolve the issue of the extra wires?

I just used the 2000 seat belts, no extra wires. In 2000 they didn't have pre-tensioners but the seat belt on the drivers side had a latch sensor.

i'm pretty sure the pretensioners started in 98.

but the problem is easily fixed by just putting the original seat belts for your truck on the new seats.

How about using the sub-frames of the seats from your truck and put them under the new seats ?

Can be done, will take a little time and take the backs off first.

There is a sub-frame that bolts to the seat pans and they should interchange.
I put my 03 sub-frames on a set of 02 seats that did have 99 sub frames on them… LoL on that one.
The guy PC had some 02 seats in his 99 Ranger and when we worked a deal I took the sub frames out of my '03 (60/40) Seats and put them in the 02 Seats.
The sub-Frame is the Slider part with the seat belts attached and they bolt to the Seat Pans.
The 60/40 portion will un-bolt from the frame work once everything has been remove.

IF you decide to take things apart, take the backs off the frame first and reassemble last.

Luck/ltr,

Silver, a long time member did this swap. I talked to him a few weeks ago about the seat belt and nut. he said he had to cut the "flange" off the seat belt bolt. I'm glad you brought this up. I will be doing the same swap in a couple weeks on the road. i'll need to cut the nuts before i go up.
