Okay I've scoured the site and I have a question. My 98 Ranger has just developed an issue where when I start my truck the airbag light comes on and blinks the 25 code. So someone said it was the switch and I should replace it. So I went to the junkyard and found a switch from a 2001.

I put the switch in and there are no airbag lights. However this switch works differently than my old one.

My old one you would insert your key and turn it to the off position and it would lock in there. The new one doesn't lock into the off position. Actually at the junk yard I tried a bunch of Ranger's and they didn't lock into the off position.

I called the dealer and they stated that from 98-2003 the switches are universal. They tested the one they had there and the switch didn't lock to the off position.

I'm stumped. Please help!!!!

 

my grandpas 98 locks in position and my 03 doesnt...in the 01 switch you have to turn it to off and hold it there while you pull the key out and it will stay in the off position...they made it so you cant leave a key in there

 

Thanks for the response. Went to the dealer today and took in my old part. They were stumped too. I didn't realize that the new part didn't lock and the new one doesn't unless you pull the key out while in that position. No more airbag light yippe!
