'99 4.0l: Rebuilt engine, can't remember how a few things were connected/attached
I took this engine apart nearly a year ago. It had a blown head gasket and needed a bit of TLC. It was in the machine shop for about 8 months due to the dearth of machine shops here and the backlog that exists because of that fact.
I have the engine reassembled and back in the truck now, however I am unsure how several things are attached or what they connect to, as a lot has happened since I disassembled.
In one image, the main wiring harness bundle passes near the exhaust manifold, and there is a mounting bracket thing sticking out from it. I am not entirely sure where that is supposed to go because there is a leg on one side of it that makes it impossible to attach to most places without severe twisting.
In that same image, the oil dipstick tube I think is supposed to attach to a bit sticking up above the exhaust manifold, but it sits above that by about a half inch, and I figure it should fit snugly down on it.
Finally on the drivers side valve cover (other image) I do now know what attaches to that. I presume that is the PCV valve. I thought I did pretty well keeping track of all of the hoses, bolts and whatnow when disassebling, but I don't have any hoses left, so I don't know exactly where that is supposed to connect. Anyone with a '99 4.0l that could give me a clue?
OK, found out I had hooked something up to the vacuum there that was supposed to be hooked up to air inlet/throttlebody, and so I hooked up the PCV to the top left vacuum port. The truck now runs smoothly, and other than a small oil leak on the passenger side it is good to go. I DO still need to find out where exactly the oil dipstick tube and the large wiring harness bundle are attached. If anyone has any pics of those attachment points on their own truck I would be entirely grateful.
So, I just had the passenger side head off my 99 Ranger 4.0L ohv. I'm looking at your driver side and not seeing an EGR valve or the tube coming off the upper intake down to the EGR, or the tubes feeding off the DPFE or even the DPFE. I'm wondering how this could be?
