when i shift it to 4 low the 4x4 light is on only. i know the 4 low light works because i had to reverse the wires as i had them hooked up backwards at first. it was showing 4 low in 4 high. i'm so confused lol !

maybe my linkage is not adjusted right or maybe the getto fabed bronco II shifter is not liking the switch?

I've haven't had any trouble with mine but I've heard complaints of them sticking before. The switch is 2-stage and should ground the 4x4 wire in 4HI and both wires in 4LO. You should be able to ohm it to see if it is OK. You can confirm that the cluster is working right by grounding each wire individually and watching the indicator lights.

i ordered the newer switch yesterday along with the pig tail or plug end.

next week i'll see if it works and shows both lights when in 4 low

You must get a good discount. Most of the Motorcraft pigtal kits retail for $35~40 ...
