Ac clutch turns off while driving but is fine while idling
Hey guys,
I have a 2000 3.0 220,000 miles
the past month, my AC clutch has been turning off when driving. At idle, it is fine. I have changed the AC switch. I was told to replace my belt tensioner and it might help. I replaced that and the idler pulley. Freon is good. Relay and fuse is good. The only thing I noticed about the relay is that it is way hotter than the other relays. I switched it with my windshield wiper relay. Everything was all good. But then that relay got hot too. Idk if there’s a correlation there. I have heard about reshimming the clutch. I did check the spacing in between the clutch and pulley and it was a tad bigger than what I read it was supposed to be. Could it be alternator or compressor getting weak?
