Air bag module question

After rebuilding my wrecked 99 I had a trouble code (29) because I had a different module in there, I guess they are vin specific. I installed the old module and now I have a code 19, probably because the ds bag was deployed. Whats the solution? Do I have to take it to the dealer to have the module reset or a new module reprogrammed?
TIA
John

Pinpoint Tests — Air Bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)

Pinpoint Test E: LFC 29/DTC C1414 — Incorrect Vehicle Identification Code

Normal Operation

The restraints control module (RCM) monitors the voltage at pins 10, 13 and 14 to determine if it is installed on the correct vehicle. If the RCM detects an incorrect voltage on any of these pins, it will store a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C1414 in memory and flash a lamp fault code (LFC) 29 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator.

Possible Causes

An incorrect vehicle identification code could be caused by:

l an RCM installed on the wrong vehicle.

l an incorrectly programmed RCM.

l vehicle ID pins not connected as expected.

I dont know about vin specific but year they probably are. In 01+ they changed them a bit. Only reason i know is you can just unplug the seat belt warning anymore. After 01 they will have a LFC.

I think you need to get a different RCM. They are a one time use in your year.

Although the truck has air bags that are 01 all the wiring has been changed to 1999. I originally had the 01 RCM and had a code 29, I installed the RCM from the 1999 and now have a code 19. I believe its a crash memory full code. Is there a way to clear it or do I need a new RCM?

The RCM contains the the crash sensor. If it has been used in a crash replace it. If it can be cleared it would need to be done with the ford scan tool "NGS".

Until you can hammer out this airbag issue install 2 ohm resistors in place of the airbags. They are simulators and will no blow up accidentally while you work on this.

Thanks for the info. I guess I could use the 01 RCM with the code 29 and just have it reprogrammed right?

Verify these connections after you swap RCM's.

Note:
For this vehicle application, RCM C2041 pins 10 and 14 should be open circuit.

For this vehicle application, RCM C2041 pin 13, circuit 1001 (WH/YE) should be connected to ignition voltage.
Here is a connector pinout.

All of this info was for a 2002 truck.

If you still have a LFC 29 the RCM may need to be programmed.
