Air bag question

Are air bags compatable between years and styles? I have a set of 04 bags I would like to use with a 2000 system. I like the newer style better.

I really dont know that specifically....

BUT....what i do know, is mid-year 2001 models, Ford changed the bags. No clue exactly what they changed....I think the cut off is mar01?? Biggest way i could tell is the wheel emblem is colored and not just 'embossed' into the bag as on early 01s and older ones. I think you might need to run the 'after mar01' ones.

Like i said....i really don't know the right answer....BUT, i did pop the driver bag while wheelin', and replacing it the yard asked me the manufacture date.

Here's what I know for sure. I am using an 01 bag(newer style with the blue emblem) on my 99(black truck). I know the passengers bags plug is different on the 04 bag than it is on the 2000 model, so it won't just plug in.

I think your problem is really going to be the airbag controller, they are year specific.

I know I can't change the controller but I am thinking I can use the 2000 controller with the 04 bags. Seems to me they just require a charge to set them off and have x amount of resistance so the computer senses they are there and intacked, so it won't throw a code.
