All Lights Kill switch
All Lights Kill switch
Hi, Bit of a weird question, we currently use our rangers, all 2018 models, for some operations, I'm Just wondering if anyone has an idea how to create a kill switch for all the lights, everything from the headlamps to the dash and screen. We drive under NODs and currently have to tape up all the screens and lights to keep our light signature down, a simple kill switch that would make it all go dark would be pretty handy. Thank you for looking and any advice some may have. (we do still drive these on the roads for day to day work but legality of creating a switch like this is not an issue where we are)

We are in North America and could never get the T6 Rangers here, so won't have wiring diagrams
Our Rangers were smaller, 1983 to 2011
Australian Ranger Forums would be best bet for 2018 Ranger
Ford publishes a Shop Manual Set every year for every model, and sends these out to Ford Dealer shops so they can fix new vehicles
One of the books in this set is "Wiring Diagrams"
These are often sold separately, on Ebay or ??, but in Europe or Australia, not in North America
Outside of the obvious, Turn OFF the light switch, what else has lights that need to be turned off, just curious
The dash warning lights usually just have 1 or 2 fuses
Brake lights one fuse

Its an Irish/Uk Model. the touch screen stays lit even when turned off, it goes black but it still emits light. hooking up a switch to the fuses could work, do you know if it would have any inverse effect doing that.Effectively would probably have to create a whole sub board that would be connected to the switch. The lights that come on when you step out are an issue as well, i don't know what they are called though, courtesy lights?, they are under the wing mirrors, and a few other lights as well on front and back.
Any light is an issue really, when driving with NODs it creates a massive bright spot that drowns out the ability to see clearly (as possible with nods) and we generally dont want any lights on when we are driving around, lights us up like a Christmas tree, even the smallest ones.
You can get window tinting in different darkness's, touch screen should work through it, but don't know, there may be some for iPad or Android tablets screen covers the right size, that would for sure work with touch screens
You can get anti-glare overlays but don't think they are that dark
I don't think the Screen in any vehicle has any relation to vehicle starting or driving, so can be turned off anytime, but every vehicle is different, lol
You would use a bank of relays, one for each fuse, ground controlled, so one switch in the cab turns off the ground to each relay, simple 1 wire setup, cab has the ground already, so limited 12 volt wiring needed, so less chance of shorts
They make these: https://gtc.ca/product/ct6100-fuse-s...connector-set/
So you can replace a fuse you want to turn off with a relay or switch using one of these, remember to use that same fuse or similar AMP rating fuse inline with the relay or switch
A switch for each fuse would work, relays just add the convenience of one switch to control all the relays
The dome light and mirror light that come on with door open usually share the same fuse, but you can disable that door open function by unplugging the switch inside the doors, just a 2 wire switch usually on the Latch mechanism inside the door
You could still turn on the dome light manually that way
