B2300 Parasitic Drain Suggestions

Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone might have some suggestions for tracking down a Parasitic Drain on a 2003 Mazda B2300 2.3l. I've spent most of the day performing tests and here is what I have found:

I get a drain of about 190mA when any one of the following items are connected:
  • Engine bay fuses
    • 1 - I/P Fuse Panel
    • 6 - ABS Pump Motor
    • 21 - PCM Memory
    • 28 - ABS Module
  • The black alternator plug is connected.
All 5 items have to be removed for the drain to disappear. None of the interior cab fuses seemed to have any impact. I tried pulling all the interior fuses and it had no effect. I am not sure where to go from here any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

I recharged the battery before looking at it some more today. The draws on everything except fuse 1 were gone and the interior fuses pointed to fuse 26. After latching everything up and waiting an hour the draw was down to 60mA. It was a brand new battery I got a week ago so I am thinking the battery itself might be bad. Just wanted to follow up in case anyone else runs into the issue, make sure you are testing on a good battery otherwise you might be chasing ghosts.

Check your grounds. Have battery tested. Good luck.
