Friend of mine has a 01 that she is gonna bring by for me to look at this afternoon and I wanted to bounce some ideas off of you guys to help me narrow it down. She say's it sputters when she takes off and her fuel mileage is horrible. I was thinking MAFS. What do you guys think?

 

Does she have a check engine light? If so you could pull some codes.

Could be a clogged fuel filter

 

She said no check engine light so probably not the MAFS. So maybe the in-line filter.

 

Could be a bad o2 sensor, as this will cause a lot of problems and make the computer think for some reason to dump loads of fuel in the engine, with inadequate amounts of air, and thus, terrible power and terrible mileage

 

Get the computer scanned anyway. She can still have Pending codes even without a Check Engine Light.

One guy had no check engine light, crappy idle, hesitation, and poor gas millage. Came back with a pending code for misfire. Checked his compression and the check showed signs of piston rings gone bad.
