Ok, since I am going to need new tires soon, I was thinking do a t-bar crank and put on some 31x10.5R15 tires, maybe radial baja claw or buckshot mudders. But since my stock tires are 28.9 inches tall the speedo would be off. I was wondering if the bamachips programmer adjust the sensor for different tire sizes/rearend ratios. Also what kind of power gain can I expect from it? And is the program for 93 octane or 87? All help is greatly appreciated.

 

haha everyone loves the programmer, just wait for a bunch of owners. im sure it will perform much better from what iv'e heard. you have to tell doug what your spec are for optimum tunage from what i understand.

Yes it can reprogram your speedo. You can use 87 or 93, or whatever other grades of gas you have nearby. If you have an automatic you will feel the best part of the programmer in the shift points. The truck will shift a whole lot smoother with the programmer. Anything else:)

The program can be changed to reflect any major change you do to your truck(minor bolt-on's don't worry about). I am about to get mine changed for when I change my gears from 3.55's to 4.10's.

 

Not sure if any have mentioned the 50$ cable you can get that USB's into a laptop and plugs into the programer ,then , you download the free program from doug. then you can tweek and mod for tire sizes and a big variety of other setings..perty darn cool

To answer your question, the tuner can be set to whatever you want. It comes with 3 programs of your choice (93 performance/93 torque/87 mileage for example) 87/89/93 octane gas, whatever is available in your area or what you want to pay for (Gas price wise). Most gain will be seen from the highest octane gas available in your area. It will re-calibrate your PCM for larger tires or a gear change plus a lot of other things (Intakes, remove rev limiter, speed limiter and such). Also with the XCal-2, you can rear/clear CEL codes and you can also data log (using a USB cable and a laptop) your vehicle to see how everything is running and report back to Doug so he can tweak your files even more.

From the dyno run I have seen, the 93 performance setting yields about 17ft/lbs of torque at 2-3k rpms where normal driving is done. Each truck responds differently to tuning so it varies.

With the USB cable (Read FYI below), Doug can send you updated files and you can load them on your tuner yourself. No need to send the tuner back to Doug, much easier and faster this way. You can also edit your own custom files that Doug makes you (If you want to decrease/increase speed limiter, timing, get bigger tires later on, gear changes, transmission shift points, idle RPM, and more). This is probably the best mod you can do to your truck.

FYI: You can get any normal printer USB cable and it will work fine with the XCal-2.
