2004 Ranger XLT 4X4.
I got a view of my truck the other day and I see that the bed is leaning into the cab. Not a classic left lean, but on both sides leaning in.
Thoughts?
Could be previous owner changed fuel pump and remove bed to do that, which is the correct way for DIY
And there are body to frame rubber "washers" under the bed that hold it up a bit, if they were left off of the front bolts that could cause an angle, but "washers" are not that thick
Or if there was a custom bumper clearance issue in the rear, PO may have added thicker "washers" in the back
I do indeed have significant cracks running on both driver and passenger size frame. The truck is currently parked until I decide what to do.
Driver side is just in front of where the front frame bolts to the rear frame. The passenger side is behind the rear wheel.
I am not a welder and this repair is over my head. Will I be throwing good money after bad, to have someone fix this? Please see pics:
Driver's Side frame above Passenger side frame above
From what I remember the rear frame section was the same for regular cab or extended cab, the front frame was longer for extended cab
Long bed Ranger had different rear frame
You could pull off the bed, just 6 bolts and 3 screws, to get a better look, and call up a Mobile welder to come over to have a look at condition of metal to see if frame can be straightened and boxed to fix it
That first picture looks like there is some rust near the crack. I would also suspect that you are only seeing part of the damage (more rust and or cracking). I would also look for signs of where the crack and/or rust started and what may have caused it..
