CB antenna NGP

Does anybody use one of the NGP 'no ground plane' antenna's? I've been having serious problems trying to cut out interference. I just switched from a 3' antenna to a 2' (the bigger one looked bad plus started to hang off to the side because of the spring. I didn't put a spring on the small one). I have it mounted to my toolbox (i know its a bad spot to work with). I have the ground wire from antenna into a bolt on the mount. Then a wire from that bolt to a bolt on my frame. I used 2 washers on the bolt for my gas tank skid plate to pinch the wire there (will the washers transfer the ground to the frame properly?). I need to have my squelch almost all the way up, but i still have interference, especially when accelerating.

So anybody with an NGP antenna, do they work well? Or do they have poor performance. But it can't be any worst then what i have now.

All mobile antennas use the sheet metal of the body as a ground plane.
What you are most likely experiencing is wideband noise created by the fuel pump.
I'll post back in a minuite with a link to a possible fix.

I've found this to work rather well.
