CEL On, Got Computer Evaluation....Opinions?
CEL On, Got Computer Evaluation....Opinions?
Alright,
Truck: 2000 4.0 4x4
My CEL popped on and I went to autozone and had them run it through the computer. Here is what it reads:
Definition: Cam sensor condition
Explanation:
The Camshaft Position sensor signal is monitored for errors
Probable Causes:
1- Cam Sensor defective
2- Check connector and wiring to sensor
3- Engine mechanical condition-timing belt/chain out of time
Now my questions,
Where is the cam sensor located?
I started hearing a squeaking from the front end, could it just be I need to replace my belt?
I'm trying to get this resolved before it gets ridiculously cold here.
Thanks for any info/help,
Tim

The 4.0L OHV camshaft position synchronizer/sensor assembly is located in the same place on the motor that it is on the 3.0L vulcan and 5.0L motors. Check out : http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl025h.htm
Excellent link if it comes to that, which I'm thinking it might. Same symptoms as the person there had. Maybe I'll replace the belt and see if that does the trick.
Now I need to find a link like that to find out how to get my engine at tdc.
My question is would a bad belt cause the CEL to come on or no?
Thanks,
Tim

Not sure if this is what your looking for, but the top of the slip says
" Troubleshooting P0340"
Idk if that is the code your looking for?
Thanks for the help,
Tim
Alright.
I guess I'll change the sensor and go from there.
The directions posted above should be pleanty.
Should be fine to drive for a couple days? It feels like its fine, nothing out of the ordinary other than the squeek I hear.
