Changing brake line

I recently blew the brake line that is mounted on the drivers side frame rail, it rusted out. Has anyone experienced changing that line before? Any advice?

Well.. you need to trace that brake line up as far as you can.... until it is not rusted... Or run it all the way to the master.. But I would just find a non-rusted part...

Cut it with a brake line cutter.....

Put on a brakeline nut..... flare the end.... get a couple sticks of 3/16 tubing... and a connector... And replace..

its really easy to replace the brake line... The hardest part is when i always forget to put the nut on BEFORE flaring the brake line... pisses me off

The problem that I am looking at now is that I'm most likely going to have to drop the gas tank to replace the brake line, because the whole line doesn't look too great. Thanks to the wonderful road salt...

No need to drop the tank.
You can use a long line and tape over the end and thread it through , leaving the old line in place.
The tape will keep any crud from entering the end of the line as well as keeping the fitting in place.

Or when you bend the line, but forget to make sure the nut at the END, so you have to unbend all your bends, grrrrr.

haha, yeah that too..

And you dont have to drop the tank to get to the brake line... just cut it as far back as you can, so its not dangling..

And re-route the new one.. doesnt have to go where the stock one goes... just run it how you want to..

Thanks. Sounds like a project for Saturday. I just noticed another spring hanger is rotted through today as well - that will be 3 out of 4 replaced...road salt sucks
