CHECK OIL light out of nowhere, has oil on dipstick

Not sure why this dash light is illuminated.. I have oil pressure on the gauge and oil on the dipstick. I don't see a puddle on the concrete where I normally park it. I drove it home from the gas station and parked it for the night and tomorrow I am gonna check the dipstick again. 1993 with the 3 liter.

Mine will do that when oil gets low, still shows on dipstick just at the lower end, and light stays off until enough oil gets pumped around the engine and doesn't have time to drain back down from the heads
Then it comes on and stays on until I either add some oil or its sits for an hour or so, lol

This is a Ground sensor, 1 wire, and they can fail, always grounded, its on the side of the oil pan, best to change it after oil is drained for an oil change
Unplug it and light should go out

Looks like this: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/u9MAA...Et4/s-l300.jpg

There is a black plug-in, that is held by the the pins you can see, it can get brittle and break when you try to take it out, but you can buy a new one, seen here: https://contentinfo.autozone.com/zne...2/866/image/2/

@RonD I checked the oil level this morning and there was gold oil on the dipstick but it was towards the bottom of the hashed area. I went ahead and added 1/2 a quart of oil today and rechecked, this put the level about 2/3 up the hashed area and so I restarted the engine and no more CHECK OIL light. I'm actually happy this truck has this feature. every time I've owned a car that burns oil I've had to figure out through trial and error when she needed to be re-fed oil. Now I have a sensor that will tell me every time.
