Cig Light Not working
Cig Light Not working
Is there anyway to test to see if it actually works. Its possible that the actual lighter piece is broken I suppose, but I would like to hardwire some stuff to it if thats possible. I dont want to rip it all apart only to find out its not getting power at all. Thanks
i have my interior neons and such hooked up to this...there are wires that go in the back of it that you can splice into...to see if you have power get a voltmeter, set it to 20V, put the red probe in the socket and the black on a ground like the body or seat mount and it should read around 12V.
a voltmeter? you dont have one? GASP. Its a very useful tool. Check out like Lowes or the HD. Many people have them. I prefer the Greenline Voltmeter<--Itheink thats the name. Its all digital and comes with a hot wire indicator.
The fuse should be alright...do your speedometer lights work? If they do i believe it runs of the same fuse. you really need a voltmeter and a fuse tester. Found the meter at home depot for 19.99 and its digital. the fuse tester is at any auto store.
I have a fuse tester, but unfortunately I dont know the fuse number in my 99. It didnt come with a manual. I will pick up a voltmeter within the next couple of days. And yes, the speedometers lights work.

I think the cig lighter fuse is number 17 or 19. If you look at the panel, its on the far left, one of two spaces below the "centerline" of the fuse panel. It should be I think a 25 amp fuse. I know that there is a fuse above it, and possibly below it to, but can't remember.
