Correct Oil Pressure Sender Part Number
Correct Oil Pressure Sender Part Number
1989 Ranger 2.9 V-6 $4x4
I am having a problem locating the correct oil pressure sending unit. I checked the gauge using a 73 Ohm Resistor for low Scale and Ordered a 2.2 Ohm Resister to check midscale too. I ordered a unit from Rock Auto and the Description said it was "W/ Gauge." Received Motorcraft SW2220 which turns out to me a simple switch for an Idiot Light.
I am frustrated with all the descriptions on the Google Search Results. Some say "New OEM Ford Oil Pressure Sending Unit Temperature switch."
I don't need a pressure switch for an Oil Idiot Light nor a Temperature Switch for an High Temperature Idiot Light.
I need an analog device that changes resistance as pressure is applied to it's 1/4NPT fitting.
Does anyone know a source for the correct part?

PS60 was the generic part used for electric oil pressure gauges, that were variable
Google: ps60 oil pressure sender
Ford switched to oil pressure switches in the late 1980's early 1990's, just on/off switch set at 6psi ON
And added a resistor to the back of the gauge to show "normal" range when switch showed 6psi or higher
Conversion from switched gauge to variable seen here: https://www.therangerstation.com/for...iction.165083/
It shows Ford sender in article
You need the PS60 and then need to by pass the resistor on the back of the cluster
PIcture of the jumper on older style clusters: https://asavage.dyndns.org/ftp/Aeros..._Gauge_04c.jpg
This can only be done on clusters up to about 1995/6, I thought just 1994, because resistor was move to inside the gauge itself so no easy way to by pass it
