Dead Radio
Dead Radio
Hi all, new member,
just picked up a 99 ranger for the misses, Have not owned a truck in a long time!!
Radio is dead no light/sound nothing
I have pulled and checked the fuse
where you reccommend i start next??
under the hood, under the fuse box, under the dash?
I have installed many a radio in my day but never repaired one
is this a common problem with the ranger or am i just unlucky.
just hoping to get some quick hints/answers before i start just
tearing stuff apart, THANKS

It's only 2 screws to pull the radio and bezel out in 1 unit, I'd check to see if radio is even plugged in. Screws are just above heater control *****.
Previous owner may have had aftermarket radio installed, and just stuffed factory radio back into it to sell or trade in.

all 3 fuses good, unhooked and reattached wiring and heard cd player turning so i think it is getting power, face swung open when i removed the bezel, this about as far as i can ope it without feeling like somethings going to break. any ideas??
There's your problem, The face plate is NOT supposed to do that.
